Classification

For science and maths, we have been learning about classification. We looked at what was similar and what was different. Can we find a pattern?  Ms. Corbett gave us different items to classify and we had to explain our classification. Some us put it into groups of colour and shapes.  Then we had to group the items into much harder categories. Can you guess how we classified them?

Thank you Whaea Tui for the awesome gifts

Calendar Art

For our calendar art, we studied what makes a great photo. We looked at different techniques: fill the frame, rule of thirds, lines frame the shot, high angle, low angle and horizon lines. After planning our shot we took photos. Can you see the different photo techniques? Last day to order calendars: Friday 23rd September.

Facing our Fears

We were learning to identify some of the barriers we have in our learning. Miss Laxa helped us create some Fractured Art.  First we wrote down all of the fears we have around learning.  Then we screwed up the paper. That was like saying "these barriers will not stop me from learning". After the paper was scrunched up, we used black vivid markers to outline the wrinkle lines.  Then we coloured the spaces in between.  In the we end we created something beautiful from something that started out scary.  This is one of the examples of our work.
